Goodbye February. Hello March.

Even though February was only 2-3 days shorter than our other months it really flew by for us! Here's a very condensed version of our month...

August and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. My mom and sister Bethany drove over from Colorado to take care of Bence for a weekend. Thanks guys! On a Friday afternoon Aug and I headed south, our car loaded with all sorts of unhealthy-indigestion-causing snacks and a book on CD (Book of Time by Guillaume Prevost). We drove about 5 hours to arrive in Springdale, Utah. We stayed at the Red Rock Inn Bed and Breakfast, located just a mile from the entrance of Zion National Park. We loved the B&B--our own cottage, breakfast in a basket...everything was charming. Over the weekend we spent some time driving and hiking in Zion National Park. Neither of us has been there and it was MAJESTIC. That is the best word to describe it. So beautiful, even in February. We also went to St. George (about a half an hour drive) for an evening. In a nutshell, it was a very fun trip. Anywhere with August is fun.

When we returned home from our anniversary extravaganza we were able to spend a bit of time with my mom and Beth. It was so much fun to have them there. Mom left on a Monday morning but Beth was able to stay for a whole week afterwards. She was so helpful with watching Bence and helping with some touch-up painting I've been putting off. We watched lots of movies, made good food, and just had fun. Beth also found out while she was staying with us that she got into BYU and that is where she will be going in the fall! I'm so proud of her and so excited to have a sibling in the same state...only an hour away!

Bence reached a big milestone in baby-years: 18 months! We tried to make the day fun for him by going to Ikea and playing on things and eating in the yummy Ikea restaurant. Bence has been so much fun to watch growing and learning. We have now stopped making a list of the words he can say because there are just too many new ones every day. He loves being outside, loves playing in water, mud, dirt, the bath tub, etc. Bence loves to smile and laugh and play games. He is easy to please...although he's been getting picky about food...We have been so grateful for the 18 months he has been a part of our family!

So sweet. He falls asleep so fast for nap time!

Off to the pool with dad.

Also of note, we planted the first plants ever in our yard--9 blackberry starts! I am planning a blog post about our yard and I'm almost done with our landscape plan...so there's something to look forward to. Thanks for a great month February 2010!

  1. Sounds like a great trip but - you hiked? Were you having contractions like crazy?!! or was it just a gentle hike?

    Happy Anniversary!
