Bence the three-year-old

Our little Bence turned 3 back in August. We celebrated his birthday at Yellowstone National Park during a wonderful family vacation.  (More about that trip in an up-coming post.)
Bence is a constant amazement as well as terror to me. There are time when I am filled with pride and joy because of his sweet heart, his love for helping, and his interest in learning. The moments when I'm filled with terror occur when his disobedience, lack of respect, and plain-old meanness show forth with Linden or myself as the recipient. Most of the time I think 'I have no idea what to do or how to handle this situation!' I want to throw my hands up and sigh and say 'raise yourself, son'. I am grateful for a loving God who showed us how to live through his son Jesus Christ's example.

Here are some of the funny and wise things Bence has said that I've managed to jot down:
"Just clean 3 hands because I'm really, really sticky."
"Something fell in my mouth. It was a bbbbiiiiiiggggg chocolate." Dad: "And you couldn't help it?" Bence: "I did help it."
(said in a sing-song voice) "I'm on my way to get on my way, someday."
"I can do everything forever"
I had taken out the garbage and the bag had not yet been replaced. Bence said very mournfully: "Why is that naked?"

Cheers to you Bence and the next 15 years! We love you!

  1. I love you. I love your boys (all 3 of them). And I love that we are in the same phase of life and deal with so many of the same things. 3 year olds, for the most part, are so much fun. Yeah for Bence!
